The MDM Difference: We Believe in Balance
At Motion Dance MOVEMENT, we believe that balance is the key to a fulfilling life — on and off the dance floor. we are committed to delivering top-level dance training and innovative choreography in an environment where every dancer feels seen, supported, and inspired. We believe that true growth happens when dancers are encouraged to pursue their passion without sacrificing balance in their lives. Our inclusive community celebrates individuality and empowers dancers to thrive both on the dance floor and in every area of their lives.
We recognize that dance should be an important part of a young person's journey — not their whole world. That’s why everything we do is rooted in the idea of balance, thoughtfully built into our programs and schedule in four key ways:
Thoughtful Scheduling: September Start & April Recital
We understand how hectic the school year can be, especially during its beginning and end. To support smoother transitions for families:
Our classes begin in mid-September, giving students space to settle into school routines.
Our annual recital is held in April, avoiding the busyness of May and year-end school activities.
May classes focus exclusively on technique.
Summer options include flexible camps and drop-in classes from June to August.
Time Flexibility
We offer a range of programs designed to fit every family’s lifestyle:
inMotion dancers have no mandatory weekly hour requirements, allowing them to explore other interests and activities.
eMotion, our pre-professional company, offers a customizable commitment of 3 to 15 hours per week, based on each dancer’s goals.
All dancers, regardless of their time commitment, will have multiple opportunities to perform, helping them grow as artists while maintaining a well-rounded life.
Performances with Purpose: Fall & Spring Shows
Performance is a vital part of a dancer’s growth — building confidence, resilience, and stage presence. Our dancers perform twice a year:
Fall Recital: November
Spring Recital: April
These events give students a chance to shine and celebrate their hard work, without overwhelming their schedules.
At MDM, we don’t just teach dance — we nurture balance and build confidence in a space where every dancer feels seen, supported, and inspired. By supporting the whole dancer, we empower young people to grow into strong, capable, and compassionate individuals — both on stage and in life.
a note from our founder
helen Estrella
Over 20 years ago, I opened my first dance studio. I was young, ambitious, and felt like I had something to prove to the world. At the time, my focus was on being the best — winning awards, building a reputation, chasing perfection. And while that studio was successful in many ways, something always felt like it was missing.
It wasn’t until I became a parent myself that I began to see dance through a different lens. I realized that dance isn’t about being the best or winning trophies — it’s about falling in love with movement, with self-expression, and with the joy that comes from truly connecting to music and your own body.
That realization changed everything for me. I knew I wanted to create something different — a space where dancers could train at a high level without sacrificing the other important parts of their lives. I wanted to build a community that valued not just great technique, but also kindness, balance, and personal growth.
Now, eight years into Motion, I truly believe we’ve created something special. Our dancers receive exceptional training, but they also have time to enjoy their families, their friends, their academics, and other interests. Some of our students have gone on to build careers in dance; others haven’t. But what they all carry with them — regardless of where life takes them — is a deep love of movement and a lasting understanding of what balance really means.
Thank you for being part of this journey. I’m so proud of what we’ve built together.
